Privacy Policy

Last updated 27 September 2026

Hot Button collects nothing about you. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third parties. Neither the app nor the website sends any of your information anywhere, because neither one talks to a server at all.

What we collect

Nothing. We have no way to identify you, contact you, or tell one player from another. We do not know how many people play, who they are, or where they are.

What stays on your device

The game remembers three things so it does not have to ask twice. All three are stored only on your own device — in UserDefaults in the iOS app, and in localStorage in the browser:

  • pmf.muted — whether you turned the sound off.
  • pmf.playerCount — how many players you set up last time.
  • pmf.players — any names and emoji you chose for the players. This is optional; if you never rename anyone, it only holds the defaults (“Player 1”, “Player 2”…).

That is the complete list. None of it ever leaves your device, and deleting the app or clearing your browser data removes all of it. Player names can also be changed back at any time on the setup screen.

No network, no third parties

The iOS app makes no network requests of any kind and works entirely offline. The website is a static page — once it has loaded, it does not call back to us. There is no analytics script, no advertising SDK, no crash reporter, no social embed, and no cookie of any kind.

Because nothing is collected, there is nothing to sell, share, or hand over, and nothing that could be exposed in a breach.

Children

Hot Button is made for family game night, and it collects no data from anyone, of any age, so there is nothing for a parent or guardian to request, review, or delete. Player names typed into the game stay on the device they were typed on.

Your rights

Laws such as the GDPR and CCPA give you the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal data a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to act on. To remove the settings above, delete the app or clear your browser data for this site.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Any change that involved actually collecting something would be announced in the app's release notes first.
